2017 School Success Workshop

Our annual Back to School Workshop was held on August 3 hosted by Trinity Wesleyan Church. The purpose of the workshop is to facilitate communication between schools and our client families. Students participating in the workshop receive a backpack with school supplies required by their class. Representatives from area schools in our service area are invited to discuss topics such as registration procedures, bus routes, and school lunch programs. Thank you to all who helped make this event possible.

Clemson CROP Hunger Walk 2017

Walkers gathered on Sunday, October 1, at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church for the CROP Hunger Walk. This event is held annually on World Communion Sunday to raise awareness and funds to combat hunger locally and globally. Seventy-five percent of the proceeds are given to global hunger initiatives and twenty-five percent stay in the local community. The local funds are used to combat hunger through the work of Clemson Community Care. Thank you to all those who participated!

CCC Clients Participated in Cooking Classes

Over the summer, several CCC clients were offered the opportunity to participate in a cooking class offered by Carol Salley from the Food and Nutrition Program of the Clemson Extension Service. The class was held once a week for six weeks. Each class consisted of a nutrition lesson followed by the preparation of a dish to share. Participants were also given a casserole to take home for their family and a gas card to thank them for being in the class.

We are grateful to the Clemson Extension Service for partnering with CCC, and to Clemson United Methodist Church for allowing us the use of their kitchen facilities and providing the child care.
